Interviewed in today's Telegraph, Margaret Thatcher's former press secretary, Sir Bernard Ingham, says Alastair Campbell is to blame for the prime minister's failure to marshal public support behind conflict with Iraq.

"The spin has gone all wrong for the prime minister. He's the little boy who cried wolf once too often. The wages of spin is a serious loss of trust by the public," he says.
