Chris Bryant, the Labour MP for Rhonda, attacked the Press Complaints Commission at a hearing of the Commons media committee yesterday.

Bryant criticised the practice of allowing censured editors to sit on the commission.

He added that the watchdog should have acted on the recent admission by the Sun editor, Rebekah Wade, that her newspaper had paid police officers for information.
