New safeguards for borrowers
Consumers who borrow money will be able to challenge unfair credit agreements under plans announced by the government yesterday.
Melanie Johnson, the consumer affairs minister, told the British Bankers Association yesterday: "I want to deliver a far better deal for consumers and give them real power to challenge unfair credit agreements."
The move promises to be the most radical shake-up of the 30-year-old consumer credit laws.
