Steve Norris is planning to use cross-party advice to shape his bid for London mayor.

Norris, the Conservative candidate, plans to model his campaign on the successful New York strategy of Rudolph Giuliani, a Republican mayor in a naturally Democrat city.

Meanwhile, Simon Hughes is expected to be named as the official Liberal Democrat candidate today.
