NAO told to back off by beeb
BBC chairman Gavyn Davies has told the National Audit Office to back off from plans to scrutinise the corporation's work, saying it could undermine its independence and hit funds for programme making.
Davies used a House of Lords briefing to say that other public bodies such as the Post Office and Bank of England were exempt from NAO regulation.
