John Bercow, the Conservative MP who resigned from Iain Duncan Smith's shadow cabinet over the party's stance on gay adoption, said yesterday that Section 28 of the Local Government Act, the law banning local authorities from promoting homosexuality, is "offensive, redundant and irrelevant".
