The figureheads of Britain's two main Christian churches have united against Tony Blair over invading Iraq.

New archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and Catholic archbishop of Westminster Cormac Murphy O'Connor questioned the moral legitimacy of invading Iraq and the humanitarian and political consequences of war.
