Dr Rowan Williams marked his enthronement as 104th Archbishop of Canterbury yesterday by urging the church to regain its confidence and speak out on war, injustice and sexual greed and unfaithfulness.

He told the 2400-strong congregation in Canterbury cathedral - which included Tony Blair, Iain Duncan Smith and Charles Kennedy - that the church had to "warn and to lament as well as comfort".
