Up to 20 past and present security officers in Northern Ireland could be prosecuted for colluding with loyalist paramilitaries.

The claim follows a four-year investigation by the Metropolitan Police and files will go to Northern Ireland's director of public prosecutions within weeks.

Among them is a senior British diplomat and part of the investigation centres on the killing of Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane.
