Kaufman slates BBC's new politics show

Gerald Kaufman reviews the first edition of the BBC's youth-oriented "Politics show" in today's Guardian.

The chairman of the Commons culture, media and sports committee is unimpressed, saying: "The Politics Show came to a merciful, if belated, end with a ghastly animated cartoon and soundtrack (parts of which were happily inaudible).

"In farewell, [Jeremy] Vine balefully promised: 'We'll be back, same time next week.' I shan't."

The Independent's reviewer concludes: "The attempt to be achingly hip (and boy did it ache) was dreadfully laboured."
