England will go ahead with its cricket world cup match in Zimbabwe next month, it was announced yesterday.

A special meeting of the England and Wales Cricket Board voted unanimously to reject the advice of the government and to proceed with the fixture on February 13.

Only a decision that the safety of players could be put at risk will prevent the match going ahead.

Tessa Jowell, the culture secretary, said the decision was "very disappointing".
