Tony Blair yesterday warned that an al Qaeda terror attack on the UK is "inevitable".

Speaking to senior MPs, the prime minister insisted that Britain was under threat regardless of its leading role in the coalition against Iraq.

"I think it's inevitable that they will try in some form or other and I think we can see evidence from the recent arrests that the terrorist network is here, as it is around the rest of the world," he said.
