Johnny Adair, the loyalist terrorist who was returned to jail last week on the instructions of the Northern Ireland secretary, is to challenge the decision, according to his close associates.

Paul Murphy revoked his early-release licence after advice from security chiefs that Adair had been directing terrorist acts and engaging in drug dealing, money-laundering and extortion.
