Traces of the lethal poison ricin have been discovered by police and MI5 agents in a flat in north London.

Six Algerians, suspected of links with al Qaeda, were arrested but it is believed that three other members of the gang are still missing.

The prime minister, who was speaking at a conference for British ambassadors in London, said the arrests showed "this danger is present and real and with us now and its potential is huge".
