Tube deal creeping towards final destination

A deal to part privatise the London Underground edged another step closer yesterday when an agreement was reached between the government and Transport for London.

The government is thought to have agreed to "replenish reserves to manage the part-privatisation of the Tube", reports the FT.

It has also given guarantees to provide financial support "in the event of unforeseen circumstances".

The bodies have been locked in dispute for two-and-a-half years.
