Conservative MPs are said to be desperately seeking a senior shadow cabinet figure to lead the "men in grey suits" against lain Duncan Smith.

Michael Ancram, Michael Howard or Oliver Letwin have yet to be asked to tell their party leader he no longer has the confidence of the party, reports the Telegraph.

"The possibility of a transfer of power now dominates Tory conversation in the tea rooms," the paper claims.
