Milburn woos top doctors
Long serving NHS consultants are to be offered career breaks in a bid to prevent doctors leaving the health service.
Senior doctors with over 20 years service will be offered a three month sabbatical, Alan Milburn will announce today.
The plan, which will cost around £15 million a year and apply to 800 doctors, comes as the health secretary struggles to push through a new consultants contract.
