Dozens of hereditary peers evicted from parliament following the reforms of the House of Lords are planning to sue the government for £1 million each for loss of their property rights.

The peers have been angered by proposals for second stage reform which suggest paying pensions to life peers to encourage their retirement, while those with inherited titles will receive nothing.
