Protestant population in Ulster declining

Census data has revealed that the Protestant population in Northern Ireland is at its lowest level in the province's 80 year history.

Now at 53 per cent, compared to a rising Catholic figure of 44 per cent, the statistics suggest that the end is in sight for unionist dominance.

But the Independent suggests this will not happen in the next decade.
