Airline alliance backs Kent airport
The Star Alliance, which is made up of 15 of the biggest international air carriers, has said it would be willing to operate at a new airport at Cliffe in Kent.
Jaan Albrecht, Star's chief executive, said the group would want to maintain a presence at Heathrow, but added that Cliffe could offer better facilities for passengers making connecting flights and provide more opportunity for growth.
