Regional assembly backs Stansted over Cliffe
The government should develop Stansted rather then build a new four runway airport at Cliffe, the south east regional development assembly is expected to say tomorrow.
The assembly, which represents nine of the region's county councils, say building a new airport at Cliffe would cause massive ground transport and environmental problems and could not be justified commercially.
