Tories will not match Labour's spending
Conservatives will not promise to match Labour's spending on public services at the next general election, reveals the Times.
Current government plans are "too restrictive", shadow cabinet members have told the newspaper.
"The battle at the next election will be over whether Labour has managed to improve public services versus our plans for reform, not on how much money each party is prepared to throw at the problem," said an unnamed senior Tory frontbencher.
