Blairite union boss clocks off

Amid the growing fears of many trade union members about the future of their pensions, one of their leaders has clocked off with a payout of £250,000.

Amicus trade union boss, Sir Ken Jackson, gets a lump sum of £210,000 and then an annual allowance of £50,000.

One of his officials, Charlie Mackenzie, signs off with a package totalling £400,000.

Sir Ken, a figure close to Downing Street, was recently ousted from the top union job by left-winger Derek Simpson.

The large payouts have triggered an angry response from Labour MPs.
