TV licence fee should go, says poll

Nearly two thirds of British people believe that the BBC's licence fee can no longer be justifed in the age of cable and satellite television, according to a YouGov poll for today's Telegraph.

John Whittingdale, the shadow culture secretary, said: "There is growking dissatisfaction with the fact that people are required to pay £112 by law for a product they may never watch - and face a prisomn sentence if they refuse.
