Diaries claim Davis wanted Tory leadership in '97
According to new extracts from Alan Clark's Diaries, David Davis has been pursuing a "stealth" strategy to become Tory leader since 1997.
In January 1998 Clark wrote of the former Tory chairman: "Each of us approaching our goal stealthily. Leadership for him, chairman of the '22 for me."
