Labour in dash for cash
On the day that Tony Blair promised to renew "our membership base", Jimmy Elsby, the Labour Party's treasurer, warned that income has fallen below expectations.
As members were asked to approve increases in subscription rates, David Triesman, the party's general secretary, also called on unions to agree a deal "to provide long term funding".
