Lord Jenkins has warned the chancellor that he should focus his efforts on becoming a "dominating chancellor" rather than pursuing leadership ambitions.

In an interview with the Independent, he says that Brown runs the risk of becoming a "tail end Charlie" after a long Blair premiership.
