Northern Ireland first minister David Trimble met with Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams yesterday for the first time since the street violence in Belfast over the summer.

The meeting comes as the Ulster Unionists' ruling council is set to insist that Sinn Fein be expelled from the Northern Ireland assembly as a result of the violence.
