Scientists have found that a foot and mouth ban on hunting last year did not lead to an increase in the fox population.

A Country Life survey of hunters reveals that two thirds will continue their field sport in open defiance of a Westminster ban.

The poll also found that almost half - 47 per cent - are prepared to break the law in a campaign to preserve hunting.
