Catfight over RSPCA top job

The search for a new chief executive of the RSPCA has descended into chaos, after two members of the selection panel threatened to resign if former Liberal Democrat Jackie Ballard is chosen to succeed Peter Davies.

There are concerns that she has little financial experience, it is reported. The two people threatening their resignations are said to prefer former chief executive of Railtrack Steve Marshall.
