Blair backs 'stealth' plan for GM crops

The Mail claims that Tony Blair is backing EU plans to make it legal for conventional crop seeds to be "tainted" by GM genes at a rate of one in 200 plants, which would not have to be declared on the label of seeds sold to farmers.

Farming minister Elliot Morley yesterday said there is "enormous pressure" from the biotech industry to allow the growing of genetically modified crops in the UK.
