A terrorist attack by dissident republican said to be on the same scale of Omagh was prevented by a major police operation during the last two weeks, Northern Ireland's police chief has claimed.

The attack was aimed at coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the Omagh bombing which killed 29 people.
