'Humdrum' BBC panned by watchdog
Much BBC programming is "humdrum, over familiar and formulaic", says the Broadcasting Standards Commission chief, Paul Bolt, today.
In an FT interview, the standards watchdog indicts the corporation's bid to compete with commercial rivals for high ratings.
"One begins to wonder what really is the point of the BBC," Bolt tells the newspaper.
