A top secret unit of the British army is in Spain gathering evidence on links between the IRA and the Basque separatist movement Eta.

According to today's Telegraph, the unit is made up of serving and former members of 14 Intelligence Company, a group with close links to the SAS, and has been operating on Spanish territory with the consent of the Spanish government.
