Millbank seeks three-year union donor deal

Labour has asked trade union leaders to sign up to three-year funding deals in a bid to restore party finances - which are currently £6 million in the red.

Writing in Tribune, Labour chairman, Charles Clarke, admits that union cash cuts in rows over privatisation and workplace rights have brought "a significant and unexpected reduction in funding for the party at a difficult financial time".

The GMB described the call for a three-year donor deal as "boorish".
