MPs to take three nights a week off

A report by the Commons modernisation committee - to be published in early September - will recommend that MPs take three evenings a week off as traditional 10.00pm votes are abandoned.

MPs will begin at 11.30am Tuesday to Thursday and finish for 7.00pm.

Modernisers believe reforms will bring more media coverage and make the Commons more "family friendly".
