Tax credits considered for organic investors
DEFRA is considering offering tax credits to companies that invest in organic farming.
The scheme, based on a Netherlands scheme, has the backing of farming minister Elliot Morley and the Soil Association.
"The cost of borrowing money is the single biggest barrier to entry. Tax credits would be hugely beneficial to organic farming which is not a get-rich-quick industry," said Soil Association director Patrick Holden.
