John Bercow, the shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, was yesterday accused by a Labour MP of "obsessive compulsive exegesis".

Kevin Brennan, the MP for Cardiff West, made his claim after it was revealed that the cost of answering the 4382 questions Bercow has tabelled since last June had reached £565,278.
