Prescott considers end of right-to-buy
Tenants' right to buy council housing at a discounted rate could be halted by as early as this autumn, under plans being considered by deputy prime minister John Prescott. He argues that the scheme, introduced by the Conservatives in the 1980s, undermines his target for affordable housing, particularly in the South East.
