MPs investigate palace 'grace and favour' housing

The Commons public accounts committee will today visit Kensington Palace to investigate concerns that Prince and Princess Michael of Kent are not paying enough rent.

The MPs will view "grace and favour" apartments - though not those of the Kents - to examine whether the taxpayer is losing out.

Labour MP and committee member Alan Williams has described Kensington Palace as the "the grandest housing benefit scheme in the country".
