Tony Blair has avoided the fate of other centre-left Europe leaders because the British prime minister follows "Thatcher's path", claims Silvio Berlusconi.

In a Guardian interview, that will dismay many in Labour, the controversial right-wing Italian prime minister said: "There have been lousy results on the part of the socialists. Tony Blair is doing well because he has essentially followed Thatcher's path."
