Politicians to back taxpayer cash for political parties
Labour, Tories and the Lib Dems are set to back greater state funding for political parties.
A deal is on the cards after talks between Labour Party chairman Charles Clarke, Tory party chairman David Davis and Liberal Democrat treasurer Lord Razzall.
Proposals include increased public funding, a cap on election spending and a cross-party trust to which rich individuals and companies can give cash to contribute to democracy.
