MPs urge Royals to quit palace

MPs have called on Royals to quit "outrageously" cheap luxury apartments in Kensington Palace.

The public accounts committee was also unhappy with the contrast between publicly-subsidised spacious flats and the "cubicles" occupied by workers.

Ian Davidson, the Labour MP for Glasgow Pollok, said: "Prince and Princess Michael of Kent undertake no public duties whatsoever, yet live in a royal palace at a peppercorn rent. That is just outrageous. I cannot think of any way in which that can be justified."

The Mail today reports that the Queen offered Prince and Princess Michael of Kent a different house in return for leaving the apartment.
