Ahead of an emergency debate in the London assembly today, Ken Livingstone's girlfriend, Emma Beal, has issued a statement saying that no "scuffle" took place between her and the London mayor.

Livingstone faces questions over allegations that he lied about his behaviour at a 40th birthday party.

The statement came after a new witness said he saw the Livingstone holding Beal "by the back of the neck".
