A survey published by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors yesterday has found that house prices are still increasing at their highest rate for two and a half years.

However, the group did detect the first signs of a slowdown in the housing market, after the rate of growth had not increased in the three months to May, the first time in five months.
