John Prescott will not be joining a team of 40 civil servants and advisers in Bali next month, the Cabinet Office has announced.

The deputy prime minister had been due to participate in the talks to be held ahead of this summer's Earth summit.

Environment secretary, Margaret Beckett, will now lead the British delegation.
