Ministers given special treatment in sleaze rows, allege MPs
Former members of the Commons standards and privileges committee yesterday claimed that Northern Ireland secretary Dr John Reid and his predecessor Peter Mandelson were both given preferential treatment by the committee during their sleaze investigations.
The revealations came as Conservative MP for Worthing West Peter Bottomley and former Independent MP for Tatton Martin Bell gave evidence to the inquiry into self-regulation by Sir Nigel Wicks.
