The BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 have each written to the Independent Television Commission expressing an interest in taking over terrestrial digital broadcasting after the collapse of ITV Digital.

The FT reports that a consortium of the rival broadcasters could take over the running of free-to-air services.
