Prodi questions UK/US 'special relationship'
European commission president, Romano Prodi, will attack Britain's "fear" of Europe in an Oxford speech today.
The outspoken EU chief will unfavourably contrast Britain's enthusiasm with the "special relationship" to the UK's reluctant approach to the single currency.
"I wonder what makes this great nation happy to be a junior partner in a trans-Atlantic relationship, but afraid to take its place alongside its European allies," he will ask.
