Left-wing, pro-euro Labour MPs and peers will today publish a pamphlet stressing the plus points of British membership of the single currency.

The move is being seen as an attempt by members of Labour's "awkward squad" - including Lord Hattersley, Peter Kilfoyle and Tam Dalyell - to show that support for the single currency is not linked to support for the Labour leadership.

It comes as the Independent reports that Tony Blair told the recent meeting of the PLP that he wants the UK to play a "full part" in the euro.
